Train Sets History and Facts

The second half of the nineteenth century saw the origin of model trains. These trains were formed in tin plates and the rails were prepared of cast iron. Train model slowly developed. It moved with live steam engines. It was then run on the floor with the technology of steam and clockwork engines. European countries manufactured good engines. In the year 1891 Marklin began the first model train with a complete system where the clockwork provided the driving power and then it was properly dyed.

Marklin utilized three different gauges. As it developed another gauge, 0 1 quarter, was added to its list. Hornby model train first came in 1920’s. It then moved to China. In the 1920’s the earliest Hornby People collected these model trains. It was their dream}. model train was launched in UK and there after in 1955 it moved its base to China. People made collection of these model trains. It was their dream. His trains were mainly of the same standard. Knowledge was required to fix it. It looked beautiful with electricity In these models you can build your track mat layout or even a bigger layout than that. The model train sets included track mat with buildings, landscapes, level crossings external and internal sidings, stations, platforms, loading sheds, signals, and many other accessories to give the miniature a natural look. The model train had accessories. It had platforms to buildings. It looked natural.

During world war I Germany then the largest producer of model trains , could not cope with the demand. France and Switzerland produced madel trains During this time 00 and H0 gauges were designed. But ultimately 00 gauge became the standard measurement. In the soon after part of 1930 Hornby launched Hornby Dublo 12 volt DC electric and clockwork replica when 0 gauge was obsolete. England produced 00gauge models. France also produced H0 gauges. They produced after world war II But Hornby still persistently with it 0 gauge model train manufacture. His models were having three rail tracks which was a marketing mistake for him.His models had three tracks. It was a great mistake. It failed in the market. During this period many industries had changed over to double tracks. They all had 12 volt DC electricity and two tracks.. Hornby applied this idea only in 1950, which saw a marketing boom through out the industries of model trains.

The model railway gauges are:

i) 00 gauge – 10 mm to 1 foot i.e. 1/76 scale with 16.5 mm gauge inside track,

ii) 1 gauge – 10 mm to 1 foot i.e. 1/30.5 scale with 44.45 mm gauge track width,

iii) 0 gauge 7 mm to 1 foot i.e. 1/43.5 scale with 32 mm gauge inside track.

Today the model toy trains are still in demand and available in a wider range than before.Model trains now have many varieties. It is still in demand Most as luck would have it Hornby is still in the market and has get underway its ‘live steam’ 00 gauge models of Greesley A4 and Flying Scotsman.
