Why Should I Learn Knitting?
You may have childhood memories of seeing your old granny sitting in the rocking chair clicking those knitting needles as she turned out garments for the family. This may or may not encourage you to learn the craft of knitting. But knitting is something that many younger people can do even better than seniors. When you get older, your hands and eyes are not as good as before, so knitting may not be a happy choice.
Learning to knit when young will keep your hands supple and help prevent arthritis. Many hours can be spent happily knitting some thing of great usefulness and beauty. Hand knitted garments feel lovely on the skin and are much nicer than those mass produced garment from the local store. You can create a unique garment that no one else has by choosing your colour, wool and style, then adding your own choice of fittings such as buttons.
Knitting provides a pleasant occupation that keeps your hands busy while also doing something else such as listening to music or TV. Instead of staring out the window while travelling, you can knit while on buses and trains, making that time spent travelling or waiting go faster. Finally you can then pass on your skills to the children so they won’t be bored on rainy afternoons.
